The Tamarind Tree
We may not be familiar with the tamarind tree in America, but it is so extensively used in other parts of the world that they have tree farms in South America just to produce this tree.
What are they using this tree for? Well, the answer is almost everything. Every part of the tree is used from the root to the fruit, for everything from the planks for the sides of boats, to tanning, to remedies for snake bites.
This tree just seems wild and Iove it!
The peoples of India, Sudan, Pakistan, Nigeria, and Bangladesh have historically used this tree to help with digestive problems, parasitic infections, treatment of cuts, wounds and abscesses, fevers, eye diseases, malaria, gonorrhea... the list goes on and on.
Why they have used tamarind is no secret.
Tamarind has been found to have all the anti properties, antidiabetic, antimicrobial, antivenomic, antioxidant, antimalarial, antiasthmatic and antihyperlipidemic while being protective of the liver, lowering blood sugar and cholesterol.
It is full of minerals, protein, amino acids, carbohydrates, fatty acids, citric acid and linoleic acid just to mention some.
All of this and it is generally considered safe to use. I don't think that you could ask for more from any tree or herb.
I don't talk about it often because I don't think most Americans are familiar with the tree and it's properties, but I am so proud to have this as an ingredient of my Capsule Cream.
