Cannabis, Weed, Joints, Marijuana, HTC, CMD

I can hardly leave my house nowadays without smelling the aroma of weed wafting in the air.  It seems that the only thing that changes is the level of concentration as I navigate throughout my region. It reminds me of when I was a child and cigarette smoke was a pervasive reality that you just had to figure out how to navigate through.

Then came the results of studies showing the devasting effects of second-hand smoke and regulations restricting the areas in which one could smoke in public.  Now, it is rare that I encounter cigarette smoke and my lungs are thankful for the change.  It makes me wonder how long it will be before legislation is in force to restrict the second-hand encounters of marijuana.  After all, this product is characterized by its “contact high”.  Now that it is so prevalent and the strains are reportedly so much stronger, it begs the question of how much exposure the general non-smoking public is getting.

The smokers will be quick to assure us that marijuana is safer than cigarettes, non-addictive and generally harmless.  New reports are showing that may not necessarily be true.  Particularly, there are some studies that report a seeming co-relation between marijuana use and the activation of dormant psychosis which could lead to paranoia, hallucinations or schizophrenia.  The studies are showing the heavier and more often the marijuana use, the more likely that psychosis will present earlier than usual and be more severe.

With marijuana use being legal in 24 states now and medical marijuana being legal in another 18 states, that means that a lot of people are probably using it without a full understanding of the potential side effects.  Many believe that because it is legal, then it is fully safe.  Aspirin is completely legal and if given to a young child, they could develop Reye’s Syndrome which is fatal.  We eat cinnamon all the time but too much of it can literally destroy your liver.  As I would with any change to your diet, lifestyle, supplement, I strongly encourage anyone who is contemplating using marijuana to contact their chosen health care professional before, during and after usage.

You are fearfully and wonderfully made, and the world needs the greatest that is inside of you.  You only get one body, more importantly, one mind.  Don’t let it be destroyed by a simple lack of understanding the potential dangers.

I will do what I can to keep you informed!
